Down the Stretch
With three more games complete the Rangers are ready to start round two the playdowns.
On January 25th the Rangers rolled into Beamsville for a regular season match-up against the Lincoln Blades. This was a great opportunity to have a look at our upcoming playdown opponent. The boys played great and held a 1-0 lead for most of the game. Part way into the third period the Blades evened things up with a goal of their own. This nail biter ended in a 1-1 draw. Euan Cassiani was a big part of this low scoring affair as he helped shutdown the opponent. For his efforts Euan was named the player of the game. The upcoming series looks to be a great one!
Right back at it the next night the Rangers faced off against the Pelham Panthers. Looking to avenge an earlier loss during the Christmas tourney, the players were jacked up for their final regular season home game. It was all Rangers from start to finish! Despite only scoring four times the boys controlled most of the play and limited the Panthers to only a handful of shots. Once again a defenceman was awarded the player of the game. Trystin Procyk was lights out on this night and his play was a big reason for the Panthers donut! Rangers win 4-0!
On Friday night the boys wrapped up the regular season on the road against the first place Lincoln Wrath. Playing with a short bench the Rangers held their own for the first two periods. Down 3-1 in the game the Rangers came real close to pulling within one goal. After a questionable penalty shot goal and penalty trouble, the game ended in a 5-1 loss. The score doesn't necessarily reflect our play during this game. Our best skater on this night was Hudson Wright. Huddy was tenacious all game long as he didn't seem to lose a step from start to finish.
Bring on the Blades and round two of the Playdowns. The boys have practiced hard all week and they're ready to drop the puck Sunday night at home.
