Time to Catch Up
After a busy Christmas and a few tourney's it's time to catch up!
The boys played some great hockey in the month of December and things looked good as we entered the NOTL tourney during the Christmas holidays. Seasons are full of ups and downs and it's possible that we peaked a bit early. Despite some decent play at times, the boys struggled during the tourney and made a quick exit. Once again we planned to build on this experience.
With little time to prepare the team traveled to Peterborough for the always fun Lift Lock Tourney. Overall the kids played great and seemed to find their game as the tourney went on. After going 3-0 in the round robin the team faced a good Rep team from Plattsville. With the goalie out and six attackers Oliver Young made a great pass to Caleb Huot in the slot. Caleb made no mistake as he fired home the tying goal and sent the game to sudden death overtime. The Rangers had the momentum in OT and fell on some hard luck as Plattsville scored the game winner partway into the frame. Everyone played great during this weekend and some highlights include a 10-1 win, a four goal game for Tristan Alford and some outstanding goaltending. It was a great weekend of hockey and fun for both players, parents and siblings!
The Rangers traveled to Welland on Monday night to face the third place Tigers. The boys put in another great effort but unfortunately fell short in a 2-1 loss. Mitchell Wilson had a great night between the pipes and made a great save on a late penalty shot. Mitchell earned the player of the game for his great play.
Things are about to get busy as we wrap-up the regular season and also begin our OMHA Playdowns this Wednesday against the NOTL Wolves.
