NOTL Christmas Classic CHAMPS!
1st place finish in the Christmas Classic!
With two recent second places finishes these Rangers were determined to finish 2013 on a winning note!
Game one against the host NOTL Wolves proved to be extremely important as a good start would help to get the ball rolling. After going down 2-0 the Rangers found their game as Thomas Boehmer lead the way with 3 goals and 2 assists. Both Adrian Resovac and Luke Abbott buried 2 goals of their own. Nick Tavares played a strong game and Hudson Hinich earned the hard hat for his strong play on the blueline! This one ended with the Rangers winning 7-4.
Game two was a difficult match up! For the first time in a while the Rangers seemed out of sorts and just didn't play well. Goals by Adrian Resovac and Broden Powell weren't enough as the Rangers fell 3-2 to the Beeton Stingers! Luke Abbott earned the hard hat for his relentless effort. This game provided the coaches a great opportunity to remind the players exactly what it would take to win this tourney. It was an interesting post game speech to say the least!
Game three versus Mooretown was a slugfest that saw the Rangers in the penalty box for 22 minutes! However, this team just wouldn't quit and managed to score shorthanded on two separate occasions. Noah Frankovich lit the lamp 4 times and Broden Powell found the back of the net with 1 goal of his own. Luke Abbott continued his strong play with 4 assists in this game. In the end it was our defense that stood out the most. Jayden Julien lead the way with strong play and his aggressiveness on the blueline earned him the game hard hat. Max Sciullo also stood out in this game with some aggressive play out front of the net! This defence is top notch! Rangers win 5-1!
Off to the semi's we go..... Bring on the Port Hope Phantoms. This was by far our best total team effort. Thomas Boehmer and Luke Abbott each scored twice and Broden Powell scored once. However, Alex Tadeson lead the way with a great performance as he took his game to a new level. What a great game Alex and congrats on earning the hard hat. Our defence was solid once again as Micah Aube played his best game of the tourney. The complete effort lead to Nick Tavares earning a shutout in a 5-0 Rangers win! Nick just keeps improving each time he steps on the ice!
Here we go....an all Southern Counties Final versus the Simcoe Warriors! There's no point in mentioning individual accomplishments for this game! It was an awesome team effort all around! Plus my fingers are getting sore. Simcoe is a tough opponent, but these boys were not going to settle for anything less than a victory. The team was motivated by two recent 2nd place finishes, a missing leader in Austin Murphy and a kickass trophy! Each player dug deep and took their play to a new level. The Rangers fought hard to a 4-2 win over the Simcoe Warriors. Congratulations Rangers!
