Frequently Asked Questions
What is Haldimand Local League?
- Haldimand Local League supports the following 5 affiliated leagues:
- Caledonia
- Cayuga
- Dunnville
- Glanbrook
- Hagersville
- Schedules are a shared responsibility between all 5 affiliated leagues. Each league tries to maintain a home night schedule, but each team's home and away games may vary weekly.
- Regular season games are variable throughout the week Oct-Jan
- GMHA Home games: Glanbrook arena
- Away games: at neighbouring centres listed above
- It is highly recommended that families subscribe to the team calendar for automatic updates of team schedules.
- In January, most divisions will be separated into A & B pools based on division standings. Playdown locations will be dependent on pool placement and other teams included in that pool.
- Top teams in each pool face off at Haldimand Final Day for trophies & medals (Date: March 29, 2025 in Hagersville)
- More information about HaldimandLL (including all league schedules and standings) can be found here: www.haldimandll.com
What are division caps and what if my division becomes full?
- Each division has a set number of goalie and player registration spaces available on a first come, first serve basis. The registration cap per division is set yearly based on the anticipated number of goalies, players and teams that may be created.
- Our goal is to fill as many teams as possible with 1 goalie and 13-16 players for each team.
- As numbers reach maximum for each team creation, waitlists for that division may be started. This does not mean that your child will not play in Glanbrook!
- As soon as a waitlist is generated, the registrar and the Board of Directors will review the status of registrations and communicate with waitlisted families on the likelihood of play in Glanbrook.
- For example: U13 has 2 goalies and 30 players registered. There is 1 goalie and 7 players on the waitlist. Families will be informed that the division needs 2 more players to open up an additional team and move all waitlisted athletes to open registration to make 3 teams of 1 goalie and 13 players each.
- Registration fees are not charged if you are placed on a waitlist, but are expected to be paid within 48 hours of receiving an "open registration" spot.
- This is a difficult process. Please have patience with our registrar and board of directors as they navigate the balance of ensuring there are enough players/goalies per team versus too many players/goalies per team. Our goal is for every child to have a place in Glanbrook Minor Hockey - we will do our best to include everyone!
- IMPORTANT NOTE: U8, U9 and U18 divisions that have Glancaster Rep tryouts in the Fall, must register with GMHA to hold a local league spot should they not be successful in their Rep endeavours. Registration fees paid to GMHA will be fully refunded or transferred to Glancaster Bombers upon successful enrolment.
What is the refund policy?
- Refund requests must be received in writing to the Registrar, President and VP Haldimand or VP Early Development (as applicable) and will be granted with the following schedule:
- Prior to Sept 1st: full refund, minus $100 deposit
- Exception: Players/goalies who are successful in Glancaster Bomber or Junior level tryouts shall be granted full refunds before September 31st. Request for refund must be made in writing within 14 days of Bomber/junior acceptance.
- Refunds September 1st to December 31st will be calculated using a prorated formula as outlined in the GMHA Bylaws.
- Please review the refund policy in the GMHA Bylaws for full details and exceptions.
