Two and out...
Rangers fall to the Blades!
After a great Playdown series with NOTL our boys were in tough against the Lincoln Blades. Despite some regular season success against this opponent we had a difficult time cracking the Lincoln tenders.
Game one at home was a tight one. The teams battled back and forth for most of the game, but eventually Lincoln scored. The Rangers final surge was defended by the Blades and the final buzzer sounded. Rangers lose 1-0. Abel McHugh stood out during this contest. Abel was solid on the blueline and stuffed the opponent when needed. Good job Abel! You're a better player than your dad.
Game two would end with a similar result. The boys played a good game but unfortunately we needed to be great. Once again the Lincoln tender made some great saves as he held the Rangers off the score sheet until midway through the third period. Some lopsided officiating was a factor on this evening as the Rangers couldn't find a break down the stretch. The game ended 3-1. The Lincoln goalie was solid but our tender Carter Charlebois was fantastic. He turned away several Lincoln shots and was a big reason the team was able to keep things close. Nice job kid!
This loss ended our OMHA's. Soon we'll be back on the ice looking to improve as we prepare for the NDHL playoffs. Keep working hard Rangers.
